Join the Junior League of Jackson County

We Do MORE than ‘Just Play Bridge’

Hi Ladies,

I have had the honor in serving on the Board of Directors for Junior League of Jackson County (JLOJC) and helping prepare for the 2011-2012 JLOJC year.  The 2011-2012 JLOJC year will be kicked off with a potential New Member Mixer on Tuesday, September 13 at 6:30 pm in the wine garden of South Stage Cellars in Jacksonville.

Junior League of Jackson County (JLOJC) is an organization of women who are committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable and all of the outreach activities focus on Jackson County’s women and children.

I have been asked to think of incredible women that would be an asset to JLOJC and I thought of you!

Currently JLOJC has several wonderful community programs that serve those in need. One such program is Project Care Package (PCP). PCP provides backpacks filled with age appropriate essential items to children that are leaving their home environment and entering into the foster care system. Many times these children are taken from their homes in the middle of the night and the PCP backpacks are all they have as personal items.

Another program with JLOJC is the Done in a Day (DIAD) program. Each month JLOJC makes a commitment to a local non-profit that serves women and children to provide Junior League members as volunteers. Members that are available, help for a few hours (hence DIAD) to meet the needs of that month’s DIAD non-profit. Last year I helped CASA of Jackson County organize toys that were donated through Dutch Bros. for age appropriate gifts for CASA’s and their children. I also helped the Autism Foundation and the Children’s Advocacy Center with their annual fundraisers. Another wonderful benefit to JLOJC and the DIAD program is I have had the opportunity to include my son in volunteering when appropriate and he is learning about his community, its needs and that he has the power to make a difference. He also appreciates more what he does have and as a mother that feels great.

I hope that you will consider joining me for an evening of wine and hors d’oeuvres on Tuesday, September 13 at 6:30pm in the wine garden at South Stage Cellars in Jacksonville. It is my goal to have you join JLOJC, help make a difference in the lives of women and children in Jackson County and I selfishly would get to spend more time with you!
